Kokoro

Best for fast, CPU-friendly dialogue and narration.

An 82-million-parameter open-weight text-to-speech model that runs comfortably on a CPU or an Apple Silicon Mac and installs with a single pip command. For a solo maker it is the cheapest way to voice NPC barks, narration and placeholder dialogue in nine languages with dozens of stock voices, and because the weights are Apache-2.0 the lines can ship in a commercial game. It does not do voice cloning; you pick from the bundled voices.
